A First Season at Leporello

Translation: Guy Côté

A leporello is a type of accordion-shaped binding.

It is also the name of an organization based in Lac-Brome whose mission is to offer professional illustrators a space that fosters creation, collaboration, research-driven projects, artistic development, and the sharing of their work, while contributing to the cultural life of the community.

This summer, the Emerging Illustration Residencies will welcome four artists: Aless MC, Samuel Fortin, Romane Minner Barrette, and Gabriel Sabourin. These emerging illustrators will work on personal projects that explore their creativity, while also offering activities for families and the local community.

These events will include sessions on nature, papier-mâché, tattoo art, and even a bike-drawing activity. In addition, storytime sessions will be held throughout the summer, during which children’s picture books will be read aloud to young audiences.

The Leporello boutique, open Thursday through Sunday, will feature illustrated books, posters, notebooks, and art tools related to illustration. Visitors can also enjoy an exhibition of accordion-style books—known as Leporelloorellos—which will include both vintage pieces and more recent works.
