The early results are in for the upcoming municipal elections. Candidates who were unopposed in their bids for office as mayor or councillor have been acclaimed. Here are the results so far.
Town of Brome Lake
There have been no acclamations in Brome Lake. The Nov 2 election is hotly contested. Four candidates – Lee Patterson, Shelley Judge, Benoit Bourgon and Alan Gauthier are running for the position of mayor. There are races in all six districts in Town of Brome Lake.
- In Bondville, Chantal Brodeur is running against Claude Rajotte.
- In West-Brome-Iron-Hill, Steven Beerwort is running against Pierre-P. Lambert.
- In East Hill, Gisèle Dallaire is facing off against Pierre Laplante.
- In Knowlton-Victoria, Marco Cantini and Lisa Payne are vying for the council seat.
- In Knowlton-Lakeside, there is a four-way race among outgoing councillor Patrick Ouvrard, Edouard Desautels, Kiara Lanoue and Danielle Viau.
- In Foster, Adèle Hébert is running against Robert Laflamme.
Bolton-Ouest
Denis Vaillancourt has been elected mayor by acclamation to his second term as mayor. Also elected by acclamation are councillors Nancy Lanteigne, Gilles Asselin and Eddy Whitcher.
Voters will elect councillors for the remaining council positions on Nov 2.
- Outgoing councillor Margarita Lafontaine is facing a challenge by Pierre Godbout.
- Marie-Michelle Lavigne is in a race for a council seat against Daniel Desrochers.
- And outgoing councillor Loren Allen is running against Dominique Carmichael.
Bolton-Est
Elaine Thivierge has been elected by acclamation as mayor. Pierre Piché, Richard Guévin, Anita Jobin and Pierre Lemay have been elected by acclamation as councillors.
Still to be elected on Nov 2 are councillors for two seats. Stéphanie Bilodeau is running against Vincent Jacques for one council seat. In a three-way race for a second council seat are outgoing councillor Marco Legault, Terry Martel and Daniel Martin.
St-Etienne-de-Bolton
Diane Desjardins has been elected by acclamation as mayor. All councillors have elected by acclamation so there will be no election on Nov 2. Councillors elected by acclamation are outgoing councillors Harry Bird, Jocelyn Brasseur, Alexandre Berger and Vincent Jarry. Newly elected to council are Christine Boutin and Robert Bergeron.
Brome
Elections Quebec has yet to officially confirm the results for Brome village. But it appears that William Miller has been re-elected as mayor by acclamation. Councillors Wesley Patch, Lisa Belanger, Christopher Whitehead and Larry Royea have also been elected by acclamation.
Remaining in a three-way race for a council seat Nov 2 are Michael Allnutt, Pamela Garrick and Lynn Patenaude. Anthony Allen and Charles-Antoine Bourgeois are also vying for a council seat in Brome.
