December 1 Session Highlights
The December 1 session lasted less than an hour, and Mayor Lee Patterson made several announcements. He said a new architectural guide was in the works and provided an update on a sewage spill into Lake Brome caused by a broken screen at the main Bondville pumping station. In the Pointe-Fisher area, work was completed to improve the road, while in the Eugene sector, a culvert was replaced to improve water drainage.
With no questions from the floor, the session was adjourned.
January 12, 2026 Session Overview
The January 12, 2026, session proved busier. It opened with the mayor thanking municipal employees and contractors for their service during the holiday period.
Questions were considerably more numerous this time, with several focusing on the town’s lack of transparency in communicating information. One suggestion called for more detailed session descriptions on the town’s website ahead of meetings. Patterson indicated an overhaul was already underway.
Fulford Road Reconstruction and Property Taxes
The town is going ahead with a major reconstruction of Fulford Road this year.
As well, residents will be hit with increased property tax bills in 2026, with increases to mill rates on top of existing increases in evaluations. Copies of the draft bylaw imposing general and special property taxes for 2026 were tabled in preparation of a special budget meeting January 19 (See article on the budget ).
