After years of cooling its collective heels, the Town of Brome Lake has finally received governmental blessing to rebuild the Mill Pond Dam.
Work has already begun and should be finished by Christmas. The $3 million project is at the core of Mayor Richard Burcombe’s vision of a revitalized village centre. It entails replacing the dam, rebuilding and upgrading the dikes, and dredging the vegetation that has invaded the space.
When completed, the pond will have regained over a metre of its former depth and all its splendour at the centre of town.
