The 36th Annual General Meeting of the Wellness Volunteer Centre, Town of Brome Lake for the year 2022, took place at the TBL Community Centre on February 20, 2023 at 5 p.m. Barrie Paige, outgoing President, thanked the Board of Directors and all supporting volunteers for their dedication and hard work during another year affected by COVID. Several events were cancelled once again.
The kitchen project at the Community Centre which Wellness was asked to support was completed in early spring. Due to COVID restrictions, holding senior luncheons was not permitted; instead there was a surprise delivery to 125 seniors for St. Patrick’s Day.
Wellness mailed 3,000 flyers to every mailbox in the TBL, advertising Wellness services available to TBL seniors. The 50+ Club at the Depanneur Rouge was restarted in May, but had to be put on hold after 3 weeks due to COVID concerns. A picnic pizza lunch was held on June 29 at the Lions Park, hosting approximately eighty seniors. It was a big success thanks to food by Richard Pilon and the support of many volunteers. At Christmas, two Christmas teas (30 seniors each) were organized and a special surprise delivery of goodie bags went to many seniors who did not attend.
Meals on Wheels, Transportation, Friendly Visits, Emergency Alert and several special events all continued as usual. Wellness also sponsored the Fit and Balance exercise class to make it more affordable for all seniors.
The new president for 2023 is Nancy Pagé. Another successful year in 2022 and Wellness Lac-Brome volunteers look forward to serving seniors in 2023.
