On November 9, Isabelle Charest paid tribute to Mr. Gary Crandall at the Quebec National Assembly. She underlined the volunteer work he performs in the Town of Brome Lake, particularly for organizing Meals on Wheels and the local food bank. He is also involved at the Lions Club and St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Ms. Charest stated that Mr. Crandall is an inspiring example.
Gary was born and raised in Knowlton and was baptised, confirmed, then married to his wife Bev at St. Paul’s. They moved away to pursue their careers and returned to Knowlton to “retire” in 1998. As Gary says “The best way to meet people, re-integrate into the community and to help others was to do volunteer work.” He stressed that the work he does is only a success because of teamwork and the collaboration and work of many other volunteers, particularly Bev. He hopes that younger and new members of the community will appreciate the joy that volunteer work can bring.
