Local Track and Field Star Heads to Laurentian University

Elizabeth Moreland, daughter of Michael Moreland and Heather Croghan, granddaughter of Diane McKell (Reid Gaylor) and the late Morris Croghan, and granddaughter of Lee and John Moreland, has been awarded a Track and Field scholarship to attend Laurentian University next year.

She is also accomplished academically. She graduated this year from the University of Ottawa with an honours Bachelor of Science. During her undergraduate studies, Elizabeth twice earned Academic All-Canadian awards, received two merit scholarships, and appeared on the Dean’s List three times.

On the field, among her many awards, she holds the University of Ottawa record for the triple jump and has won two national gold medals.

Elizabeth also loves piano and soccer. Locally, she continues to volunteer at Knowlton Academy and offers online tutoring in French and Math.

La star locale d’athlétisme poursuivra ses études à l’Université Laurentienne

Elizabeth Moreland, fille de Michael Moreland et de Heather Croghan, petite-fille de Diane McKell (Reid Gaylor) et du regretté Morris Croghan, et petite-fille de Lee et John Moreland, a reçu une bourse d’athlétisme pour étudier à l’Université Laurentienne l’année prochaine.

Elle excelle également sur le plan scolaire. Elle a obtenu cette année un baccalauréat en sciences avec distinction de l’Université d’Ottawa. Au cours de ses études de premier cycle, Elizabeth a remporté deux prix d’excellence académique canadienne, deux bourses d’excellence, et a figuré trois fois sur la liste d’honneur du doyen.

En athlétisme, parmi ses nombreuses récompenses, elle détient le record de l’Université d’Ottawa au triple saut et a remporté deux médailles d’or nationales.

Elle adore aussi le piano et le soccer. Dans la région, elle continue de faire du bénévolat à l’Académie Knowlton et donne des cours particuliers de français et de mathématiques en ligne.
