“You’d run into him everywhere, places the IGA, Ding’s Garage and before that at Mallarkey’s Garage, Chez Guy and Papa Spiro’s pizzeria,” said Ted’s daughter Terri.

A Life in Sports

Ted had a deep love of sports, and was good at all of them. He was an active tennis player, a 40-year member of Tennis Lac Brome. He played hockey for an astounding 67 years, a former teammate on “Bushy’s Birds”, before hanging up his skates at the end of last season. He also was active at softball at Lion’s Park. In earlier years, he played football for the Knowlton Larks.

Life in Knowlton

He tended his property on Ball Road for decades before recently moving with his wife Dorothy to an apartment on Knowlton Road. Terri and her husband Wyatt Hadlock now live on the Ball Road property. For many years Ted ran a business maintaining cedar hedges, and related activities. “Probably every cedar rail fence you see in the area consists of rails split by Ted,” Terri said.

Theodore “Ted” Coulson was born on April 13, 1948. He married Dorothy Lenz on July 11, 1970. The couple celebrated their 55 th wedding anniversary this past summer.

Family

Ted was a good friend to his mother Jean and to countless others in the community, Terri said. “To us and everyone he was Ted. He was an easy-going guy, always upbeat – a model for all of us. He gave people pleasure.”

Ted is survived by Dorothy, daughters Tona and Terri, son-in-law Wyatt, and brothers Sandy, of West Bolton, and George, of Calgary. A private burial has taken place.
