Opened last July on Foster Road in Brome Lake, Ankhora is an inspiring place where you instantly feel at ease. The warm welcome of sisters Valérie and Sophie Rodrigue, the founders, creates a soothing, caring atmosphere. Their motto, “Centered to Rise,” takes on full meaning the moment you walk in.
The Alta journey
I spent a full day discovering the Alta journey, a wellness experience rooted in vibrational science and the properties of C60, or carbon sixty. This powerful natural antioxidant, linked to a Nobel Prize in the 1990, elevates the body’s energetic frequency and neutralizes free radicals. Integrated as shungite, it forms the heart of Ankhora’s approach.

My day began with the C60 grounding chair, promoting calm and recentering. The ionizing bath then released tension and toxins. In the C60 hyperbaric chamber, I experienced the power of high-frequency oxygen: mental clarity, renewed energy, deeper breathing. The regenerating cloud, a soft cocoon of long-wave infrared warmth, prolonged this sense of harmony before the infrared sauna ended the journey in total relaxation.
Science meets relaxation
Though it may sound esoteric to some, the benefits are very real. At most spa stations, guests wear headphones playing binaural music designed to synchronize brainwaves. It reduces stress, improves sleep, lifts mood, and supports deep meditation. The combined effect of sound, light, and C60 creates a remarkable energetic alignment.
A restorative pause
Each station, quiet and individual, invites introspection. At midday, a delicious healthy lunch prepared on-site extends the restorative experience.
Leaving Ankhora, I felt as if I had done a complete reset, body, mind, and energy fully aligned. Visitors come from as far as Montreal to experience this unique day. For $195, plus the cost of lunch, a day at Ankhora is a luminous pause for the body and soul, a gift to give or to enjoy yourself.
