Major rebuild of Fulford Road

More than 50 people attended the May 7 information meeting where the Town of Brome Lake’s Assistant General Manager Robert Daniel presented a detailed outline of the roadwork project planned for Fulford Rd this summer.

Scope of the Project

The 7.5 kilometre road runs from Bondville Rd (Route 215) near the Restaurant des Érables in Foster up to Brome Rd, where it becomes Boul. de Bromont and leads to Bromont. Fulford Rd. will be raised by six inches and resurfaced, and bike lanes will be created by widening the road by 1.5 metres on both sides. All expansion will be within the Town’s right-of-way area.

This project is one of the most expensive infrastructure investments in the Town of Brome Lake’s history, with a projected cost of $8.7 million, $2.2 million of which will be covered by a Québec government grant. Eurovia Québec Construction’s $6.5 million bid was chosen over four other companies.

Construction Timeline

Work gets underway in the first week of June, beginning with the stretch of road between Route 215 and Davis Rd, and is estimated to take about two months. Focus will then shift to the section up to Brome Rd., followed by signage and road markings. Completion is scheduled for October, if all goes as planned.

Minimizing Disruptions for Residents

Mr. Daniel said the road will be accessible 95% of the time. Eurovia is contractually committed to directly contacting residents affected by the project and to minimizing disruption, for example by ensuring that garbage pickup proceeds on schedule.

Where to Find Updates

Updates on the project will be available in the “Info-Travaux” section of the Town’s website. Specific questions should be addressed to Town Hall at 450-243-6111.
