Town Hall Renovation
The Quebec government’s Commission de Protection du Territoire Agricole (CPTAQ) has rejected a request from the town to purchase approximately 1 acre of land from a 345-acre green-zoned property adjacent to the Town Hall. The land was needed to install a septic system and well and to carry out much-needed renovations to the building. Council is awaiting a response to its request for a formal appeal of this decision.
Town Planning
Twenty-eight permits were issued, with a total value of $1,420,000. These included one new house and several renovations.
Administration
- No “welcome tax” will apply to property transfers within a family due to death and inheritance; a small administrative charge will apply instead.
- A letter of protest will be sent regarding the Quebec Government’s decision to have the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) help enforce the USA border, which is currently the RCMP’s responsibility.
- The sale of property for unpaid municipal taxes is postponed until 2026.
Léa Laplante has been confirmed as Director General and Clerk-Treasurer of West Bolton.

Please respect the seasonal weight restrictions on municipal roads during the thawing period—until May 15.
Council has approved the “Gravelooza” cycling event, scheduled for June 6–8, 2025, after some objections and discussion. The event, which starts at the Brome Fair Grounds, is expected to attract up to 1,000 cyclists and will cover 150 km of rural roads through local municipalities including West Bolton. Drive carefully.
